Frisco RoughRiders News Release

The RoughRiders (22-10) were held in check offensively by the Corpus Christi Hooks (19-14) Wednesday night as they fell 2-1 in Corpus Christi. The loss was just the second in 14 road contests this year for the ‘Riders.

The ‘Riders scored the first run of the game with a little assistance from Hooks starter Sergio Perez in the first inning. Elvis Andrus worked a one out walk and then advanced to second on an errant pick off throw by Perez. Catcher Max Ramirez then singled home Andrus to give Frisco a 1-0 lead. Ramirez returned to the RoughRiders line up after missing the previous two contests.

Corpus Christi quickly evened the game at one as Drew Sutton led off the bottom of the first with a double. Sutton advanced home on a pair of ground outs to even the game.

Frisco starter Michael Schlact would hold the Hooks scoreless over the next three frames before surrendering the lead when a Drew Sutton triple scored Rob Crosby for a 2-1 Corpus Christi lead. Crosby's run would later prove to be the decisive run in the game.

Schlact (1-2) worked a season-high seven innings allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out three and walking one. Despite the loss, the outing was Schlact's best performance to date in 2008.

Perez (1-0) earned the victory for the Hooks after being activated from the disabled list earlier in the day. Perez allowed one unearned run over five innings while the Hooks bullpen shut out the ‘Riders the rest of the way. Sammy Gervacio earned his second save of the year after working a scoreless ninth.

Outfielder Dustin Majewski had the only multi-hit game for Frisco going 2-for-3 in the game. Corpus Christi's Drew Sutton was 2-for-4 and drove in the decisive run in the contest.

The series continues Thursday night at Whataburger Field with Matt Harrison (1-1, 5.19) expected to get the start for Frisco while the Hooks counter with Bud Norris (3-0, 3.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
