
Coby Smith Goes To AAA, Toussaint Joins Travs

Tulsa, OK - Outfielder Coby Smith left the Travs this morning to join the Salt Lake Bees, and OF Drew Toussaint was called up from Rancho Cucamonga to take his spot on the Travs roster. Smith was leading the Travs with a .304 batting average, 16 walks and six stolen bases at the time of his promotion. In 28 games with the Quakes, Toussaint hit .272 with two homers and 11 RBI.
Smith, 27, returns to Salt Lake where he made his debut in the Angels organization last season. After the Angels purchased Coby's contract from Shreveport (American Association), he began last season with the Bees before heading to the California League. Smith played 63 games for the 2007 Travs batting .277 with 37 runs scored and 21 steals.
Toussaint, 25, was selected by the Angels with a 13th round pick in the 2004 draft out of Southern A&M. The Los Angeles native has 56 home runs and a .263 batting average during a four-year career. He's spent the previous two seasons in the outfield for Rancho Cucamonga.
