Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release
The Border Cats dropped the opening game of their four-game homestand Tuesday night as they lost 7-3 to the Rochester Honkers at Subway Field. The Cats had a 2-1 lead, but the Honkers took the lead for good thanks to a four-run 5th inning.
Clint Knoblauch (Florida Gulf Coast University) started for the Cats and took the loss to fall to 0-3. The righthander pitched five innings and allowed seven hits and five runs. Knoblauch walked two and struck out four.
Philip Lyons (Nicholls State University) made his 2013 debut for the Cats and went 2-4 with a run scored. Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) had a 2-3 night at the plate and scored one run.
The Cats (8-13), and Honkers (12-9), conclude their two-game series tonight at 7:05pm. Matt Blackham (Johnson County College) will get the start on the mound for Thunder Bay as he makes his home debut. The hard throwing righthander has made two appearances and is 0-1 with 5.40 ERA.
