July 1, 2019 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
Jan Hernandez, Nick Williams and Ali Castillo all hit two-run home runs as the IronPigs defeated the Bisons, 6-4, Monday night at Sahlen Field. Despite Bo Bichette
Lehigh Valley made the most of their base runners, topping the Herd in the run column despite being outhit by Buffalo, 9-6. Of the five hits they got off Bisons starter Ryan Feierabend, three of them left the yard.
Hernandez put the IronPigs in front in the second inning with his two-run shot into the netting in left field. The eighth blast of the year from the IronPigs' right fielder was a no-doubter and quickly erased the Bisons early 1-0 lead.
The IronPigs then made a pair of walks hurt as the free passes immediately preceded their next two home runs. Shane Robinson got aboard with one out in the third inning before slugger Nick Williams blasted a home run over the Bully Hill Party Deck in right.
Then in the sixth inning, Hernandez kept a rally alive with a two-out walk, brining up Castillo for the third of the IronPigs home runs. This one left the yard in left center and knocked Feierabend from the contest.
The Bisons got on the board first in the first inning as Bo Bichette singled, stole second and scored on a Patrick Kivlehan two-out single. The stolen base was Bichette's 11th on the year and ninth consecutive steal without getting caught.
Down 4-1 in the fourth, the Herd closed to within a run as Jordan Patterson doubled home Reese McGuire in a 10-pitch battle with IronPigs starter Tyler Viza. The Bisons' first baseman then came around two batters later with Bichette singled into right with two outs.
Patterson capped the Bisons scoring with a solo home run to straight away centerfield in the eighth inning.
Feierabend suffered the defeat for the Herd, falling to 4-4 on the season.
BISONS NOTES: Bo Bichette finished the game 2-for-5 for his 10th multi-hit performance in just 32 games... Jordan Patterson's home run was his team-leading 12th of the season... Billy McKinney also reached base three times in the game, going 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
