WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends took game one over the Delmarva Shorebirds with a 7-4 victory. Brewer Hicklen and Nick Pratto both hit three-run home runs to secure the win in game one of the three game series. The Legends record improves to 15-15 overall and Delmarva's drops to 21-11.

The Shorebirds jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Mason McCoy reached on a single to right field then scored when T.J. Nichting grounded out to Legends first baseman, Pratto. Delmarva led 1-0 after the first inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, Seuly Matias reached base when Delmarva's third baseman, Trevor Craport bobbled the ground ball, then advanced to second on a single by Sebastian Rivero. Hicklen then blasted a three-run bomb over the centerfield wall to take the 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Cal Jones and Julio Gonzalez reached base on back-to-back singles. Pratto then stepped up and smacked a three-run home run over the Pepsi Party Deck in right field, to put the Legends ahead 7-3.

Delmarva sprinkled in three home runs in the final innings of the ballgame with Seamus Curran, Jean Carrillo and Craport all hitting long balls, but the Legends were able to hold on to the lead to secure the victory.

Daniel Tillo (1-1, 3.72 ERA) earned the win for the Legends, tossing 7.0 innings allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out six and not allowing a free pass. Tyler Zuber pitched the final two innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two. Cameron Bishop (3-2, 2.19 ERA) was given the loss for Delmarva, throwing 6.0 innings allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out a season-high seven batters.

The same two teams will meet tomorrow night, May 10 at 7:05 p.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark for the second game of the series. The Legends will send RHP Janser Lara (0-1, 2.20 ERA) to face Delmarva's Matthias Dietz (2-1, 4.38 ERA).
