HIDALGO, TX - Tu Holloway put up game-leading numbers in both scoring and assists in his 14th straight double-digit game, but the Texas Legends were unable to hold off the Rio Grande Valley Vipers attack, falling 101-113.
The Legends took off to a 13-0 lead to start the game and maintained control through the first quarter. A 12-0 run by the Vipers early in the second spun the momentum and the home team held onto a seven-point advantage going into halftime.
Texas kept it close in the second half, regaining the lead briefly in the middle of the third, but the Vipers controlled the boards 30-19 and extended the gap to double-digits in the fourth to seal the victory.
Holloway finished the night with 29 points (9-of-9 from the free throw line), 3 rebounds, and 8 assists. Micheal Eric added the team's only double-double of 17 points, 10 rebounds, and Patrick Miller matched former-Viper Toure' Murry's 13 points while adding 6 rebounds, 4 assists.
Jaron Johnson powered the Vipers with 16 points, 10 rebounds while Houston Rockets assignee Sam Dekker came off the bench to add 16 of his own with 6 rebounds. Raphiael Putney grabbed 15 points and 3 blocks and Jordan Hamilton added another double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds.
The match was the first of a five-game road trip for the Legends which will continue Saturday with a rematch against the Vipers at 7pm CT. Fans can catch all the action live on www.TexLegends.com.
