
Westchester Holds on to Beat Grand Rapids in Final Seconds

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Jordan Bachynski blocked a shot with 3.4 seconds left to protect a one-point win for the Westchester Knicks on Friday night.
Travis Trice had a team-high 27 points as Westchester beat the Grand Rapids Drive 116-115 in front of 3,732 fans at the DeltaPlex Arena.
Westchester, the affiliate of the New York Knicks, improves to 21-16. Grand Rapids, the whose parent team is the Detroit Pistons, falls to 17-18.
Trice stole the ball and was fouled on the other end of the floor with 7.2 seconds left in regulation. He drained both free throws for a 116-115 lead.
Trice, who played college ball Michigan State, was 9-of-17 from the field and had five assists. Ra'shad James, in his second game after joining the team via a trade from Reno, finished with 23 points. He was followed by Jordon Crawford (18), Bachynski (17), Thanasis Antetokounmpo (14). Damien Inglis added nine points and five assists.
Devin Ebanks led the Drive with a game-high 31 points on 10-21 shooting. Henry Sims scored 27 points to tie his season high, and added seven rebounds. He was followed by Dahntay Jones (21), Talton, who had 18 points and nine assists, and Kelsey Barlow (12).
Grand Rapids held the lead with under a minute thanks to a scrappy play by Talton.
The 6-foot-1 guard grabbed a long rebound between three defenders with 48 seconds left and was fouled as he drove to the lane. He drained both free throws to give Grand Rapids a 115-114 lead.
In the third quarter, Talton hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 80-80 with 3:44 to go. It capped an 11-4 run for the Drive.
Ralston Turner came off the bench to drain a three to give the Drive an 89-85 lead.
Grand Rapids had no answer for the 7-foot-2 Bachynski in the first half. He had 12 points and six rebounds at at the half as the Knicks led 66-58 at halftime.
It was family reunion for Bachynski, whose younger brother Dallin Bachyinski plays for Grand Rapids. Dallin, who was inactive for Friday's game, has played 13 games for the Drive. They have yet to face each other in the pros, but Jordan, who played at Arizona State, and Dallin, who played at Utah, did play each other once in college.
Inglis had a nice lob pass to Bachynski for an alley-oop dunk to begin the second quarter.
Westchester doesn't play again until Thursday, March 3, when it hosts the Canton Charge for a 7 p.m. EST start. Grand Rapids next plays Saturday night when it hosts the Iowa Energy for a 7 p.m. contest.
