KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Garret Holleran fired six scoreless innings and Mike Rohde and Cristian Guerrero each hit home runs as the Gary SouthShore RailCats shutout the Kansas City T-Bones 2-0 Saturday night in front of 8,058 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Holleran (2-2) did not allow a run in a start for the first time in his two-year professional career, silencing a Kansas City lineup that scored nine runs on 15 hits against the RailCats Friday night. Holleran gave up only two hits and two walks, never allowing a runner past second base and striking out a season-high five. The 24-year-old right-hander left after hitting Neb Brown to lead off the seventh, and the bullpen picked up right where he left off, completing the shutout.

Grant Johnson got out of the seventh unscathed, Eddie De la Cruz picked up the last three outs of the eighth and Andy Shipman set down the side in order against his former team in the ninth. The shutout win is the RailCats fourth of the season and third since the All-Star Break, including another shutout of the T-Bones July 14 at U. S. Steel Yard.

Derek Duclos (0-3) battled right with Holleran much of the night, but made two mistakes and the RailCats made him pay. After setting down the first six hitters in a row, Rohde led off the third with a long home run that landed three-quarters of the way up a grass seating berm over the wall in right. The blast was Rohde's first of the season and just the fourth of his three-year career.

Leading off the fifth, Guerrero smashed the 119th home run of his distinguished career - and fifth this season - high into the bleachers beyond the left field fence. The RailCats had only four hits in seven innings against Duclos, but the right-hander was nonetheless saddled with his third loss in as many outings this year. Duclos walked three and struck out three.

The RailCats had only five hits in the game, with Rohde and Eric McNamee the only two starters to reach base more than once in the game. Jim Fasano and Aharon Eggleston both had two hits to combine for all of the Kansas City offense. Fasano also drew one of two walks issued by RailCats pitchers, who allowed only seven baserunners all night.

The RailCats (40-29) and T-Bones (30-39) close out their three-game set Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. in Kansas City. July's Northern League Pitcher of the Month, Tony Cogan (6-5, 3.87 ERA), will start for the ‘Cats against Kansas City right-hander Dustin Bolton (3-4, 5.12 ERA). That game will be broadcast live on 89.1 FM, The Lakeshore, and at www.railcatsbaseball.com.
