
RedHawks take Game Two

JOLIET, IL-The Joliet JackHammers (24-45) fought back from an early 2-0 deficit to get within one run of the lead on two separate locations only to lose 5-2 to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (37-29) before 2,313 fans at Silver Cross Field on Saturday.
The RedHawks touched up JackHammers RHP Derek Barrows (2-2) for two runs in the 3rd inning. RF Mike Coles (2-4) led off the inning with a walk and scampered to third base on a double by SS Zach Penprase (2-3).
CF Nic Jackson (1-4) laced a two-run single for a 2-0 Fargo-Moorhead lead.
The Jackhammers cut the lead in half in the 3rd inning. C Tug Gillingham (1-4) hit a single and moved to second base on a wild pitch by RedHawks LHP Broc Coffman (8-4). 2B Wally Backman, Jr. (1-4) hit an RBI single to score Gillingham.
Fargo-Moorhead scored single runs in the 4th and 5th innings on Saturday. C Alan Rick (1-3) powered a solo home run in the 4th inning to make it 3-1 Fargo-Moorhead.
The JackHammers responded with a run in the 4th to make it 3-2. 1B Freddie Thon (1-4) singled and went to second base on a groundout by DH Kyle Nichols (1-4). SS Danny Cox (1-4) smacked a single to score Nichols.
In the 5th inning, the RedHawks scored a run on an RBI groundout by Jackson. Coles led off the inning with a double and moved to third base on a wild pitch. Jackson grounded out to score Coles to increase the lead to 4-2.
The RedHawks added a run in the 8th inning to seal the win. RHP Derek Barrows (2-2) started the game and took the loss. He allowed four runs on six hits in six innings to suffer the loss.
