
Hogs Take Two of Three in Week 18

Stuck in a six-game losing streak and in the middle of a season-long four-game road swing, the Rockford IceHogs snapped out of their funk to defeat the Texas Stars and Peoria Rivermen before falling to Houston in their return to the BMO"ËHarris Bank Center. The Hogs rematch with the Rivermen in Peoria on Wednesday before hosting a pair of weekend tilts with Abbotsford and Lake Erie to close out Week 19.
Bacon Bits:
-After dropping six-straight games, Rockford won two of three in Week 18
-Jimmy Hayes had his three-game goal scoring streak snapped on Saturday
-Hayes has nine goals over his last 12 games
-Rookie winger Terry Broadhurst accumulated his first two AHL multi-point games in Week 18 and also registered his first career AHL goal on Feb. 5 in Texas
-After getting whistled for a franchise record 139 penalty minutes on Jan. 19, Rockford has been called for 110 PIMs in the eight games since, an average of 13.75 PIMs per game
-The IceHogs were shutout for the third time this season on Saturday and second time in nine days when Houston's Darcy Kuemper blanked them 2-0
-Rockford has accumulated 30 or more shots on goal in nine straight games and 14 of their last 15 overall
-The IceHogs rank third in the AHL, averaging 33.15 shots on goal per game
-Rockford has only been outshot in 13 of their 48 games so far this season
-The IceHogs have lost five-straight home games, one shy of matching a team record
-After their 5-4 come-from-behind victory on Tuesday over Texas, the IceHogs are tied with Worcester for most third-period comeback victories with six
-Tuesday's game went to 11 rounds in the shootout, two rounds shy of Rockford's single-game record
-Goalie Henrik Karlsson has given up a combined six goals in his two wins and three tallies in his two losses
-During Rockford's recent six-game losing streak, four different goalies were saddled with losses
-The IceHogs are just 2-5-0-0 this season when leading after the first period on home ice
Hot Hog: Week 18
Terry Broadhurst Right Wing
Rookie winger Terry Broadhurst turned in back-to-back multi point games in Week 18, the first two during his young AHL career. Broadhurst scored his first career AHL goal on Tuesday in Texas and then added an assist for his first ever multi-point contest in Rockford's 5-4 come-from-behind shootout victory. The rookie winger came back on Friday and marked two assists to help lead Rockford to a 4-2 win in Peoria. Broadhurst finished the week with a plus/minus rating of +3.
Upcoming Games:
Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Peoria Rivermen:"ËGame time is set for 7:05 p.m. as the Hogs and Rivermen meet in an Illinois Lottery Cup matchup at the Carver Arena. It marks the second of three tilts in Peoria during the month of February, and the second contest between the two Midwest Division rivals in six days.
Saturday, Feb. 16 vs. Abbotsford Heat: Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. as Rockford hosts the Heat for a second of four contests this season. The first 1,500 adults (21+) to enter the BMO"ËHarris Bank Center will receive an IceHogs Floppy Hat sponsored by Bud Light. The Hogs and Heat will meet for the final two affairs of the campaign during a mid-March weekend outing at Abbotsford.
Sunday, Feb. 17 vs. Lake Erie: A puck drop slated for 5:05 p.m., the IceHogs take on the Monsters at the BMO"ËHarris Bank Center for the final time on the campaign. Thus far Rockford holds a 3-0-0-0 record against Lake Erie, including a 5-4 shootout victory in their last meeting at the Quicken Loans Arena on Nov. 24. The first 1,000 kids (14 and under) through the gates will receive an IceHogs Toothbrush Holder courtesy of Riverside Dental. Fans will also have the final opportunity of the season to skate with the Hogs following the tilt.
Bud Light Hog Talk Returns Tonight:
Bud Light Hog Talk returns tonight to District Bar and Grill from 6-7 p.m. District is located at 205 West State St., one block north of the BMO"ËHarris Bank Center. Fans can join Mike Peck and Slavko Bekovic from 6-7 p.m. most Mondays as they chat with IceHogs players, coaches and front office members. This week's guests include forwards Terry Broadhurst and Brandon Svendsen, along with head coach Ted Dent. Take advantage of food and Bud Light specials at District. The show will be re-aired on Tuesdays from 7-8 p.m. on 23.2 Antenna TV.

Rockford, Ill.- Bud Light Hog Talk returns to District Bar and Grill from 6-7 p.m. tonight
Tonight's show will feature IceHogs forwards Terry Broadhurst and Brandon Svendsen, along with head coach Ted Dent. The show will be hosted by Slavko Bekovic.
