Bacon Bits:
Rockford center Preston Mizzi notched back-to-back three point games in Games One and Two of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Winger Nicolas Corbeil set an IceHogs single game postseason record with 12 shots on goal during Game One.
Rockford's 2-0 best-of-seven series lead marks the third time in club history that they've had a 2-0 series lead.
The last two times it happened were also in Round One the past two seasons and the IceHogs won both of those series (Kalamazoo in 2005, 4-2; Fort Wayne in 2006, 4-1).
Mizzi attempted Rockford's second ever postseason penalty shot in Game Two on Sunday. Jason Tapp denied Mizzi's attempt.
Winger Jason Ralph took over as Rockford's all-time leader in postseason scoring when he had two assists in Game Two against Quad City. Ralph now has 17 career postseason points, one better than Mizzi, Alex Kim and Brandon Segal.
Ralph's 14 career playoff assists are also most in IceHogs postseason history.
Winger Bruce Watson became the Hogs all-time postseason penalty minute leader on Sunday as he now has 68 career PIM's. Watson passed Eric Labelle (64) for the all-time lead.
Rockford's 6-2 Game One win over Quad City tied a postseason club record for largest margin of victory in a game. Rockford beat Kalamazoo 5-1 in Game Two of the Opening Round of the 2005 Colonial Cup Playoffs.
Hot Hog Week 1 Colonial Cup Playoffs:
The IceHogs Co-MVP's during the 2006-07 regular season were just that during the first two games of the 2007 postseason. As Hogs goalie Frederic Clouteir blocked pucks at one end of the ice, Preston Mizzi was depositing them in the Quad City Mallards net at the opposite end. Cloutier turned away 64 of 67 (.955 spct.) Mallards shots in Games One and Two. Mizzi racked up back-to-back three point games totaling 3g-3a-6pts.
