Hogs Snap Mallards Win Streak

Moline, IL- The Mallards came up on the short end of a hard-fought 1-0 contest against the Western Division-leading Rockford IceHogs Wednesday night at The MARK. The loss snaps a four-game Mallards win streak. The setback also marks just the fourth time this season the Mallards have been held scoreless.

After a scoreless first period, Rockford's Jason Ralph took advantage of a screen in front of the Quad City net and managed to sneak a shot past Mallards netminder Robert Gherson. Alex Kim and former Mallard, J.F. Dufour earned the assists on the goal.

Michel Robinson and Robert Gherson combined to stop 46 of 47 shots. Robinson made 27 saves in earning his seventh shutout of the year. Gherson was a tough-luck loser following a 19 save performance.

The Mallards hit the road for a Friday night game against the Kansas City Outlaws. Game time is 7:30 p.m. central time. The First Capital Financial Pre-Game Show begins at 7:05 on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230. After the game, stay tuned for the Allstate Insurance Del Newton/Christy Cox Post-Game Show.

The Mallards return to home ice for a Saturday-Sunday twinbill with the Kalamazoo Wings. Saturday night is Mark McFarlane Retirement Night. The Mallards will retire McFarlane's jersey number 22 in a pre-game ceremony at 7:00 p.m. Following the game, the Mallards are hosting a post-game reception at R.J. Boar's in Davenport. Tickets for this event are $25 and are available via the Mallards ticket office at (309) 764-7825.

On Sunday, it's ALCOA Family Learning Day as professionals from throughout the Quad Cities will be on hand to speak to area youth about the importance of education. It's also 4-for-$40 ticket day. For $40, fans can receive four upper sideline tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs. Fans are also invited down to the ice for a pre-game skate from 1:15-2:00 p.m. Individual tickets to any Mallards game are available at The MARK box office or via Ticketmaster at (563) 326-1111.
