Portland Thorns FC News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC announced today that goalkeeper Shelby Hogan and midfielders Olivia Moultrie and Hina Sugita will depart for international duty during the June FIFA window. Hogan heads to Sweden with the U.S. U-23s for the Women's U-23 Three-Nations Tournament. Moultrie and the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team will be in France for the Sud Ladies Cup. Sugita and the Japan Women's National Team square off against Serbia and Finland in two international friendlies.
Moultrie and Sugita will be available for selection against the Orlando Pride on June 19 before departing to join their respective teams.
Hogan, 24, was named to the 21-player roster for the tournament, which allows for five overage players born before the date of Jan. 1, 1999 to be part of the squad. The USA will face India on June 25 and Sweden on June 28. Hogan previously attended a U.S. U-18 Women's National Team camp in 2016.
Moultrie, 16, and the USA will face France on June 24, Mexico on June 26 and the Netherlands on June 28 as part of their tournament. These matches will be the final international matches for the U-20s before head coach Tracey Kevins selects a roster for the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup to be staged from Aug. 10-28 in Costa Rica. Moultrie helped the USA win the Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship in March and qualify for the U-20 Women's World Cup.
Sugita, 25, and the Nadeshiko Japan will travel to Europe for matches on June 24 (10:45 a.m. PT) against Serbia and June 27 (8:15 a.m. PT) against Finland. Sugita has made 28 appearances for Japan, tallying two goals. She last featured for her country during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the knockout round against Sweden on July 30, 2021.
