Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks are proud to announce that Hockey Hall of Famer Ted Lindsay will be the first guest at Red Wings Legend Night on Tuesday, December 29. Lindsay will drop the ceremonial first puck when the Icehawks take on the Quad City Mallards at McMorran Arena at 7 p.m.
After dropping the puck, Lindsay will head to the Pro Shop, where he will sign autographs for fans during the first intermission. Autographs will be free with the purchase of any Icehawks merchandise, or $5 otherwise. All proceeds go to Kinney Charities.
Ted Lindsay played 14 seasons with the Red Wings in the 40's, 50's and 60's, winning the Stanley Cup four times. Lindsay was the first player to hoist the cup and skate with it, starting one of the most famous traditions in sports.
"We're extremely excited and proud to continue our relationship with the Red Wings Alumni Association and bring Ted Lindsay to Port Huron," said Icehawks Vice President and Business Manager Dave Goetze. "To bring Hockey Hall of Famers to town is a great opportunity for our fans to meet a legend."
The Icehawks will host Red Wings Legend Night once a month for the rest of the season. Alex Delvecchio, Joe Kocur, Karen Newman and Mickey Redmond are scheduled to appear in 2010. Players and dates are subject to change. The complete schedule of appearances is as follows:
Tuesday, December 29: Ted Lindsay Tuesday, January 26: Alex Delvecchio Tuesday, February 23: Joe Kocur Saturday, March 6: Karen Newman Tuesday, April 6: Mickey Redmond
