High Point-Thomasville HiToms News Release
THOMASVILLE, N.C. - Thomasville scored four runs in the first two innings and added on three in the seventh to slip past Gastonia 9-4 on Monday night and remain perfect in the second half of the Coastal Plain League season.
Chaz Frank provided the preamble to the fireworks show as he led off the first inning for Thomasville (3-0) with a solo home run, his first of the season over the wall in right field to pace the HiToms as they tacked on another run in the first inning thanks to a Jacob Fisher single as the Tommies took a 2-0 lead after one.
That two-run advantage would grow to four as Jacob Rogers delivered a two-run double down the left field line in the second.
Gastonia (2-1) came storming back in the third and fourth innings with three combined runs as Tyler While blasted a two-run home run to right field and in the fourth inning, Roberto Druan flew out to left field to plate Grant Gujdosz to make it 5-3 Thomasville.
However, the HiToms answered in the seventh with three runs off Robert Van Cour to put the game away as they picked up the 9-4 Independence Day victory.
Thomasville will be back in action on Tuesday night at 7:05 when they travel to Hooker Field to take on Martinsville, they return to Finch Field on Wednesday night at 7:00 when they welcome the Forest City Owls to town.
