
Delay only Adds Fuel to Steamers Fire

Edenton Steamers News Release
WILSON, NC - Edenton turned a 1-0 lead into a 6-0 win after an hour and twenty one minute rain delay in Wilson to improve to 7-2 against the Tobs this season. Jordan Moore earned his first win of the season in relief, pitching an inning and two thirds of scoreless baseball.
Joshua Branstetter, on the mound for the Steamers, retired 12 of the first 15 batters he faced against Wilson. Branstetter allowed just two singles and a walk in four innings of work against the Tobs.
Edenton, facing Tobs starter Chase Bebout picked up their only three hits against Bebout in the second inning. Adam Giacalone started things off with a single. After a Zach Stewart pop out, Mitch Wells singled. Nick Gaeta grounded into a fielder's choice that brought home Giacalone to give Edenton the 1-0 lead.
Branstetter with a runner on second and two outs in the bottom of the fifth appeared to tweak his ankle on a ball hit back to him that allowed the Steamers to run down Steve Nikorak, who doubled. Branstetter was forced to exit the game right before the rain came.
After an hour and twenty-one minute rain delay Jordan Moore finished the fifth inning for the Steamers and held the 1-0 Edenton lead.
Jon Levin, who entered for the Tobs in the top of the sixth when play resumed pitched two scoreless innings before running into trouble in the top of the eighth. With one out Tim Saunders doubled. Brett Christopher drove him in with a single to make it 2-0 Steamers. Brian Blasik hit his third triple of the season to plate Christopher. Joey Wendle doubled home Blasik and came home to score on Zach Stewart's RBI single to make it 5-0 Steamers.
The Steamers added a run in the top of the ninth after Tim Saunders singled and stole his way to third. With Brian Blasik Batting, Tyler Saltsman threw a wild pitch that allowed Blasik to reach first base and Saunders to score from third to give the Steamers the 6-0 lead.
Quattrocchi remained on the mound in the ninth for the Steamers and picked up his second save of the season, pitching another scoreless inning. Jordan Moore earned his first win in relief.
Edenton improved to 4-0 in the second half of 2011 and 7-2 against their Northern Division Rival Wilson Tobs.
