High Point / Thomasville, NC - The High Point-Thomasville HiToms (25-28) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to rally from a one run deficit to beat the first-place Gastonia Grizzlies (31-23).
Ryan Hedrick started the 8th inning rally with a single to left and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Nicky Lopez and a throwing error by Grizzlie first baseman Michael McClellan. Peter Johnson tied the scored by singling to the right side and Jake Maziar followed with an RBI single to push the Tommies ahead 4-3.
Mason Klotz sparkled once again in his third start of the season throwing eight innings of six hit ball, allowing three runs (two earned) and striking out 10. Klotz's Southeastern Louisiana teammate Sam Roberson accounted for an RBI as well belting a fifth inning solo home run.
HPT returns to action Saturday night as the HiToms travel to Lexington, SC to challenge the Lexington County Blowfish. Game time is set for 7 pm.
