January 12, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen will be hosting the annual TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game Wednesday, February 23 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. To enable accessibility for everyone, the Hitmen and TELUS will also be hosting a free online morning event on the same day as the game taking place at both 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The Hitmen will play against the Prince Albert Raiders at 6:00 p.m.
"We are thrilled that so many students joined us virtually last year and are once again looking forward to sharing our TELUS Wise tips at this year's virtual event and at the game," said Nimmi Kanji, Director of TELUS Wise. "Today's youth are spending more time online than ever before so it's critical to continue the dialogue around cyberbullying. It's also important for all of us - including youth, parents and educators - to work together to help make the online space a friendly and safe space."
Teachers and schools are encouraged to register and join in for the free online event and students, their families, and all hockey fans are invited to join the Hitmen for the TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in support of the campaign and in recognition of Pink Shirt Day.
"As we continue to work through these challenging times, we are extremely appreciative of the support and partnership that TELUS provides us for this game as we continue to influence the lives of our youth in a positive way." said Mike Moore, Vice President of the Calgary Hitmen. "The flexibility the game offers through both the online event and game itself is unique, creative and will be beneficial for all."
