Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-4 on Monday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome to take a 2-1 lead in the Round 2 WHL playoff series.
Adam Tambellini led the way with a pair of goals and two assists, matching his post-season career high for points in a single game. Kenton Helgesen, Travis Sanheim and Connor Rankin each scored a power play marker as Calgary capitalized on 3-of-5 man advantage opportunities and killed all four of Medicine Hat's chances.
Sanheim added two helpers to finish the game with three points while Helgesen and Rankin, now riding a four-game point streak, both contributed with an assist for two-point nights.
Chad Labelle and Steven Owre scored for the Tigers to give Medicine Hat an early 2-0 first period lead. Following five unanswered Hitmen goals, Labelle, with his second of the game, and Dryden Hunt found the back of the net for Medicine Hat in the third period who came up short of producing the equalizer.
Mack Shields, in his second start in as many nights, made 29 saves for Calgary while Marek Langhamer had 26 stops in the setback.
