Hitmen Stop ICE

February 27, 2020 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Winnipeg Ice News Release

The ICE had a hot start as Carson Lambos thought he opened the scoring just over a minute into the game but the goal was called off for incidental contact with the Hitmen goaltender and the game remained scoreless. Calgary's Olson got the games first goal just before the midway mark of the period as he found a Dakota Krebs rebound. Calgary would add another to take a 2-0 lead. Mikey Milne would respond for the ICE when Isaac Johnson picked off a Hitmen clearing attempt and found Milne back door.

The second period would see chances for both teams but Liam Hughes and Brayden Peters were up for the challenge to keep this game a 2-1 score heading into the third period.

Carson Focht extended the Hitmen lead just 51 seconds into the final frame to 3-1. Olson scored his second of the game just after ICE goaltender Liam Hughes was pulled for the extra attacker. Hitmen take this one by a final score of 4-1. Liam Hughes made 36 stops in the game.
