Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

Missoula, MT. - The Missoula PaddleHead's offense was uncharacteristically silent over the first three innings in game 2 of a three-game set opposite the Ogden Raptors on Thursday evening at Lindquist Field. The PaddleHeads did not see a single runner reach base in those innings as the game would remain scoreless. However, things would change in a big way for the PaddleHeads in the fourth.

After knocking in a pair of runs in the inning, Missoula would load the bases. In a two out scenario Jose Reyes would come into the box and would come through hitting a majestic home run over the left field wall to highlight a 6 run fourth inning. That would prove to be more than enough for starter Kevin Hilton as Missoula would roll to a 10-1 victory.

Hilton would deliver his most impressive outing of the season Thursday in seven shutout innings. The San Diego native would strike out seven in those innings allowing 5 hits. Starting pitching has been a huge strength for Missoula over the first two games of the series as Domingo Pena, and Hilton combined allowed one run over 13 innings pitched to set the tone.

The home run ball would once again do damage for Missoula in the seventh inning as Aaron Bond would get in on the act launching a two-run blast to make the score 10-0. It was the sixth of the season for the Indiana native who now is just one off the pace for the league lead in home runs in the Pioneer League. Bond would finish the game 3-for-4 with three driven in.

Missoula (19-4) now holds the best record of any team in the Pioneer League one game clear of the Raptors (18-4). The PaddleHeads will now look for a three-game sweep in the series finale from Ogden on Friday night. No team has swept the Raptors thus far this season. Missoula has also won each of its last eight games on the road. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tune in to hear all the action on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
