The Cats outlasted the Birds 7-6 in 10 innings on Thursday night at BB&T Coastal Field in the rubber-match of the three-game series. It was the Hillcats first extra-inning victory of the season and they improved to 2-12 in series finales.

Lynchburg plated a pair of runs in the first inning to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the deciding game of the series. Neftali Soto singled in a run and Alex Buchholz doubled in the other. Miguel Rojas collided with Pelicans pitcher Angelo Paulino on his way home as the go-ahead run, but he was awarded home plate for interference t give the Green & Gold a 6-5 lead.

Back came the Pelicans again in th bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at six. Down to their final strike, Myrtle Beach tied the game with an infield RBI single by Gerardo Avila. But yet again, after the Birds tied the game, the Cats came right back and took the lead back with a run in the top of the tenth inning. Josh Fellhauer drove-in the game-winning run with a ground out to short.

The win went to Justin Freeman (1-1) who blew the save in the ninth, but preserved the win for Lynchburg (19-28) with a perfect bottom of the tenth. The loss went to Angelo Paulino (1-1) for Myrtle Beach (14-33).
