LYNCHBURG, VA (SEPTEMBER 5, 2011) - Joey Terdoslavich owned the final day of the regular season, breaking the oldest hitting record in the Carolina League and driving in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly to send Lynchburg to a 4-3 victory over the Winston-Salem Dash on Monday afternoon at City Stadium.

Terdoslavich broke Woody Fair's 65-year old doubles record in the first inning with a double to left-center field to drive in Shawn McGill and give the Hillcats (30-38, 60-78) a 1-0 lead. The double was Terdoslavich's 52nd of the season and the first baseman received a rousing standing ovation from the home crowd for his record-breaking performance.

The Dash (37-33, 69-71) tied the game in the fourth when Andy Wilkins drove home Luis Sierra with a double to the same part of the ballpark that Terdoslavich hit his two-bagger three innings earlier.

Lynchburg reclaimed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning against a tiring Jake Petricka. The Hillcats loaded the bases with no outs and Petricka walked in a run to give Lynchburg back the lead. Geraldo Rodriguez hit an RBI double to give the 'Cats a 3-1 advantage.

Winston-Salem quickly tied things once again in the seventh when Jared Mitchell hit a two-run triple off the fence in right field against David Hale to bring home Wilkins and Ciolli.

Leroy Hunt relieved Petricka in the bottom of the inning and gave up singles to Andrelton Simmons and McGill to put runners at the corners. Terdoslavich then hit a high fly ball to medium-range right field. Nick Ciolli made the catch and offered a good throw homeward, but Simmons' speed was too much to counter and he scored to give the Hillcats the lead once again.

After Blaine Sims pitched a scoreless eighth, Lynchburg closer Ryan Buchter came in to pitch the ninth inning. Ciolli walked with one out, but Mike Blanke fouled out and Jared Mitchell struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch to end the ballgame and the season.

Buchter earned his 15th save in 16 chances, preserving the win for Hale (4-6), who allowed three runs in seven innings. Hunt (3-3) got the loss after giving up the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.

In seven months, the Dash will begin their quest to win a record 12th Mills Cup Championship.
