THE HILLCATS: Sunday, the 'Cats lost to the Winston-Salem Dash 5-4...INF Joey Terdoslavich hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game 3-3...OF Keenan Wiley broke the tie with an inside-the-parker in the fourth...The Dash would stay down tying the game back up in seventh 4-4, and then in the eighth after 21 minute rain delay, Dash first baseman Andy Wilkins took RHP Andy Russell deep to right field, giving Winston-Salem their ultimate 5-4 lead...The Hillcats are now 29-38 in the second half...They sit in third place in the Northern Division 9.0 games behind the Frederick Keys in first place...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: The Hillcats are 7-12 against the Dash this season...Lynchburg is 4-5 when hosting Winston-Salem heading into the final game of the season this afternoon...Winston-Salem took the season series 16-4 against the Hillcats in 2010...However, the Hill-City has welcomed a new affiliate in the Atlanta Braves this year...Last season the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) nearly split the season series with the Dash taking nine games of 20...

LAST CHANCE TO STAND ALONE: INF Joey Terdoslavich went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and run scored last night...The home run was his 20th, which while impressive pales in comparison to his mark of 51 double which currently is tied for the all-time Carolina League single-season record...Today is the final day of the season, and thus his last chance to break the record outright ...

PLAYOFF PICTURE SET: Before the first inning was complete in Lynchburg last night, the Winston-Salem Dash had officially been eliminated from the postseason...The Kinston Indians swept the Potomac Nationals in a doubleheader clinching the second half title in the Southern Division...So Kinston will face Myrtle Beach in the Southern Divisional Series, while the Frederick Keys and Potomac Nationals will match-up in the Northern Divisional Series...

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE: C Christian Bethancourt, INF Phil Gosselin, and OF Todd Cunningham are set to play with the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League this year...Bethancourt is regarded by many as the top position player prospect in the Braves organization...He started the year in Rome before being called up to Lynchburg at the All-Star break...Cunningham and Gosselin have been with the Hillcats all season with the exception of time missed due to injury...They were both drafted last year and were rated as the closest to the majors by Baseball America in the Braves 2010 draft class...

YEAR-END ALL-STARS: SS Andrelton Simmons and 1B Joey Terdoslavich were named to the Carolina League year-end All-Star team today...Simmons leads the league in batting average (.310) and hits (159)...His 13.16 plate appearances per strikeout is a league-best mark as well...His 35 doubles rank second in the circuit to Terdoslavich's 51...Terdoslavich also ranks among the league leaders with 20 home runs (T-3rd), 80 RBI (4th), 137 hits (3rd), a .524 slugging percentage (2nd), 73 extra-base hits (1st), and 252 total bases (2nd)...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Atlanta Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

WILE E HOME RUN: OF Keenan Wiley hit a line drive to center field last night in the fourth inning...Dash OF Jared Mitchell misjudged the flight of the ball, coming in too far, and the ball ended rolling all the way to the wall...Wiley raced around the bases for an inside-the-park homer, god for his first home run in his professional career...The round-tripper was a solo shot that put the 'Cats up 4-3...Wiley finished the night 1-for-3 with the homer, an RBI, and a run scored...He's now hit safely in nine of his last 10 games and has multiple hits in four of those games...Hitting .325 (13-40) in that span...On the season, he's hitting .285, which is good for third best in the Carolina League...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Jake Petricka was a second round pick in the 2010 draft by the White Sox out of Indiana State University...Entered the 2011 season ranked as the seventh best prospect in the White Sox organization by Baseball America...Split 2010 between Bristol and Kannapolis after signing...Rated by Baseball America as having the best fastball in the White Sox 2010 draft class...Was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week April 18 of this season...Went 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA in eight starts for Kannapolis...Called up to Winston-Salem June 27...Pitched against the Hillcats on July 16...Took loss after giving up five runs on five hits in five and two-thirds innings pitched...Currently 4-7 with a 4.38 ERA with Winston-Salem...
