Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
In the 1,200th game of the series, the Lynchburg Hillcats picked up win number 600 after a 2-1 victory over the Salem Red Sox on Friday night.
Lynchburg was carried by an excellent outing from Adam Tulloch, who finished with eight strikeouts in four innings. It was his second straight outing that he picked up eight strikeouts.
The Hillcats were only able to score in the first inning tonight, as they struggled to get their bat going the rest of the ballgame. Robert Lopez would drive home Angel Zarate with an RBI single on a slow roller to first base. Two batters later, Jose Devers would plate a second run on a fielder's choice to score Angel Genao.
Despite the first five batters of the game reaching, they were unable to capitalize on the pressure apart from those two runs.
Salem would not score until the sixth when Ahbram Liendo would smack his second home run of the season over the left field wall trimming the deficit to one. However, that we be as close as they would get.
Samuel Vasquez and Tomas Reyes would combine to shutout the Red Sox in the final three innings of the ballgame. For Reyes, he picked up his team-leading sixth save of the season.
Lynchburg and Salem will meet again on Saturday night starting at 6:30 p.m. at Bank of the James Stadium.
