
Hillcats Dominate Again, 11-1 Over Rocks

Wilmington, DE - The Hillcats' offense erupted for 11 runs on 15 hits Tuesday night against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Matt Weaver and Adam Milligan both went deep as Lynchburg poured on six runs in the eighth.
Lynchburg scored first in the top of the third. Keenan Wiley singled, stole second and advance to third as the throw down sailed toward the baseline and into centerfield. Two batters later, Andrelton Simmons singled home Wiley making it 1-0 Hillcats.
Four more runs scored in the top of the fourth inning, all with two outs. Blue Rocks starter Tyler Sample (1-2) struck out the first two batters, but then got himself in trouble with back-to-back walks. With two on and two out, Wiley began a string of three straight singles, as four runs came around and the Hillcats increased their lead to 5-0.
In the mean time, Lynchburg starter Willie Kempf (2-1) was near perfect through the first four frames, allowing just one base runner who reached on an error. The no hitter was broken up in the fifth with two outs on a Carlo Testa single. The shutout was thwarted in the sixth. Tim Ferguson triple with one out and scored one pitch later on an RBI groundout to first.
Kempf completed seven innings allowing just the one run on three hits, walking one, and striking out a season high seven on his way to the win. Sample suffered the loss allowing five runs, four earned in five innings of work.
The Hillcats weren't satisfied with a 5-1 lead late as they sent all nine to the plate in the eighth inning scoring six runs in the process. Weaver crushed a three-run shot to left, his first of the season making it 8-1. Milligan capped the inning with a two-run blast to straight away center, his fifth of the year, putting the 'Cats up 11-1.
Blaine Sims pitched the final two innings for Lynchburg, allowing one hit and no runs as the Hillcats slugged and dealt their way to another one-sided victory.
Lynchburg improved to 9-14 on the season, while the Blue Rocks fell to 15-9. Wilmington still sits in first place in the Northern Division, 5.5 games ahead of the Hillcats.
