
Hillcats and Mudcats Suspended on Monday

Lynchburg, Va. - The Lynchburg Hillcats and Carolina Mudcats were suspended in the top of the sixth inning on Monday due to rain.
At the time when the game was halted, the Mudcats had a 5-0 lead, scoring all five runs in the sixth inning. Nick Roscetti led off the frame with a double, and advanced to third when Yoantgel Segovia laid down a bunt that was bobbled by Jorma Rodriguez, to put runners at the corners. Devin Hairston followed with an RBI single to give the Mudcats a 1-0 lead. Carolina got another bunt from Dallas Carrol, but Tanner Tully threw the ball down the right field line for a two-base error, scoring Segovia. With runners at second and third, Weston Wilson ripped a two-run single to right field, and advanced to second base on an error by Trenton Brooks. With two out, and reliever Jared Robinson in the game, Ryan Aguilar ripped a run scoring single to center, stretching the lead to 5-0.
Lynchburg had committed four errors on the night.
The game will resume in the top of the sixth, with runners at first and second base and two out. An official date has not yet been determined, but will be when the Hillcats visit Carolina in Zebulon on August 6-8. The continued game will be part of a double-header, with the regularly scheduled contest to follow.
Prior to the sixth inning, Tully had allowed just two base runners on a hit and an error. He did not record an out in the sixth, going five innings, and allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out four.
Braden Webb started for Carolina and fired five scoreless innings, striking out five.
The Hillcats begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday, starting with a three-game set against the Down East Wood Ducks. Right-hander Eli Morgan (6-3, 2.83) will start for Lynchburg, against righty Walker Weickel (1-8, 4.95) of Down East. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
