
Hill Blast, Strong Pitching Lead Goldeyes in Exhibition

FRANKLIN, WI - The Winnipeg Goldeyes beat the Milwaukee Milkmen 6-1 in an exhibition game at Franklin Field on Tuesday evening.
The game was scheduled for seven innings.
Tied at 0-0 in the top of the fourth, Kyle Martin singled to right-centre and went first-to-third when Raul Navarro singled sharply through the right side. Logan Hill followed with a line drive, three-run home run to left-centre to give Winnipeg a 3-0 lead.
The Goldeyes added three more runs in the top of the sixth. Tyler Hill reached leading off on an error by Milwaukee shortstop Mason Davis, and scored from first when Martin ripped a double to right-centre. Two batters later, Logan Hill reached first on a throwing error by third baseman Logan Trowbridge. Max Murphy made it 5-0 with a double to left-centre, while Alexis Pantoja accounted for Winnipeg's sixth run with a groundout to second that plated Logan Hill.
Milwaukee scratched out their lone run in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out, RBI double from Brett Vertigan.
Eduard Reyes started for the Goldeyes and pitched three shutout innings on two hits in a no-decision. Reyes walked none and struck out two.
John Gorman picked up the win in relief with two scoreless innings. Gorman struck out three.
Cory Thompson pitched the final two innings for the Goldeyes, striking out four.
Ryan Zimmerman started for the Milkmen and took the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits over four innings. Zimmerman walked none and struck out five.
Martin and Navarro each finished with two hits.
The Goldeyes and Milkmen play another exhibition game at Franklin Field on Wednesday evening. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. All the action can be heard locally on CJNU 93.7 FM and worldwide at www.cjnu.ca
The Goldeyes will continue to monitor the reopening of the Canada/US border and assess a potential return to Shaw Park in 2021.
