SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have announce forwards Matthew Highmore and Samuel Dove-McFalls have been named the player and student of the month, respectively, for the combined months of September and October.
Highmore, 20, is the Irving Oil Player of the Month.
The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, native began the season with a seven-game points streak and went on to post eight goals and 24 points in 16 games. He was held off the scoresheet only three times. Highlights included a two-goal, four-point performance in a 5-3 win over the Sherbrooke Phoenix on October 9th and two goals in a 10-3 triumph over the Moncton Wildcats on October 28th. He has been among the top five scorers in the QMJHL for most of the season.
Dove-McFalls, 19, is the Swagelok Student of the Month.
The Montreal-product is participating in the CEGEP distance education program for a third year. In four classes this semester, educators have noted focus, discipline and attention to detail in his studies. He was able to complete two assignments and finish an exam before leaving for training camp with the Philadelphia Flyers, the team which selected him in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
On the ice, Dove-McFalls had three goals and seven points in 14 games in September and October.
