
Heredia Is Perfect from the Plate But Threshers Fall 10-3

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Raylin Heredia turned in his best game as a Thresher, going 3-3 with a triple but the Clearwater Threshers (77-49, 33-28) fell 10-3 to the Palm Beach Cardinals (63-61, 26-33) on Wednesday night at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. Clearwater looks to bounce back against the Cardinals on Thursday night in West Palm Beach.
A two-run single in the second inning gave Palm Beach an early 2-0 lead. The Cardinals added another pair of runs in the third to double their lead to 4-0. A home run, RBI triple, and a sacrifice fly tacked four more runs on for Palm Beach as they extended their lead to 8-0 in the fourth.
Heredia drew a one-out walk off Palm Beach reliever Angel Cuenca to start the seventh. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Emaarion Boyd to put the Threshers on the board at 8-1. The Cardinals responded with two runs in the home half of the seventh to increase their advantage to 10-1.
Jordan Dissin hit a towering home run off Cardinals reliever Henry Gómez with one out in the ninth and Heredia tripled two pitches later. Troy Schreffler drove him home on a sacrifice fly to bring the deficit down to 10-3, but the game ended on the next at-bat to seal the Threshers first loss of the final series 10-3.
Jonathan Petit (3-3) allowed eight runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings to take the loss. Paxton Thompson tossed 1.2 innings without allowing a run, surrendering one hit and striking out two. Casey Steward allowed two runs on one hit with four walks and two strikeouts in 2.0 innings. Alex Rao allowed one hit in a scoreless eighth.
