Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Mud Hens won their third straight game against the Red Sox on Thursday night at Fifth Third Field, 6-3. Starter Casey Crosby fanned nine batters on his way to his third win of the season.

Toledo scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break the game from a 0-0 tie. Shortstop Argenis Diaz drilled a single into center field to score two runs and with the bases loaded just a few batters later, Pawtucket reliever Will Inman walked in Matt Young to stretch the lead to 3-0.

The Hens then took advantage of a Red Sox error and Quintin Berry came barreling home to make it 4-0.

Pawtucket cut the lead in half real quick as first baseman Mauro Gomez sent a blast over the left field wall on a two-run homer in the top of the fifth, but the Toledo bats were not done.

In the bottom of the sixth, Justin Henry laid down a beautiful bunt and reached safely after a flip from the pitcher sailed by Gomez. Berry, who was on first, reached third but then was sent home as Gomez's attempt to catch Berry on his way to third reached the stands.

Eric Patterson then doubled to center field and another Toledo run in to give the Hens a 6-2 lead.

Brooks Brown came on in relief for Crosby and gave up an earned run in the top of the seventh. Darrin Downs and Chris Bootcheck then came on and shutdown the Pawtucket line-up.

The Hens and Red Sox return to Fifth Third Field on Friday night for their series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
