Hens Win Sixth Straight

August 13, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens completed their first home sweep of the season, defeating the Durham Bulls 7-5 at Fifth Third Field on Monday night.

Durham took a quick 5-0 lead after tagging Adam Wilk for five runs on five hits in the third inning. Only one of the runs for Wilk was earned after an Audy Ciriaco error on a missed catch allowed the inning to continue.

The Hens clawed their way back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning after Jerad Head smashed his 10th homer of the year. Don Kelly and John Lindsey RBI singles in the fifth inning cut the Bulls lead to one.

Head continued to hammer the ball with an RBI single to score Justin Henry and tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning. The Hens took the lead in the eighth when Brad Davis doubled down the line to score two and give the Hens the decisive 7-5 lead.

The Mud Hens hit the road tomorrow for an eleven-game road trip starting in Syracuse. First pitch tomorrow is at 7 p.m. and Casey Crosby is scheduled to start for Toledo.

Game Notes

Jerad Head has homered in three of the last four games that he has had at least one hit in.

Ben Guez extended his hit streak to eight with a single in the eighth.

The six-game win streak is tied for the Hens' season high after they won six in a row between April 15-April 20.
