Donnie Veal Promoted to Chicago, Kloess Assigned to Birmingham

(Fort Mill, SC) - Donnie Veal, who posted a 7-3 record with a 2.08 ERA and two saves in 35 games for the Knights this season, has been promoted to the Chicago White Sox, as announced by Chicago earlier today. This is Veal's second promotion to Chicago this season.

Veal, 27, made two appearances for the White Sox earlier this year and struck-out three batters over 1.2 scoreless innings pitched. Veal will take the roster spot of Jordan Danks, who was optioned to the Knights after Sunday's game.

13 Charlotte Knights have gone from Charlotte to Chicago this season including Danks, outfielder Dewayne Wise, infielder Ray Olmedo and pitchers Dylan Axelrod, Brian Bruney, Deunte Heath, Pedro Hernandez, Jhan Carlos Marinez Brian Omogrosso, Jose Quintana, Eric Stults, and Leyson Septimo. Both Veal and Axelrod have gone to Chicago on two occasions this season.

One other roster move was announced today by Chicago. Charlotte reliever Brandon Kloess has been assigned to Double-A Birmingham. Kloess posted a 3-0 record with one save and a 1.73 ERA in 12 games with the Knights this season. He tossed a scoreless inning of relief in Sunday's 8-6 win over Norfolk.
