Rockford Lightning News Release

The Lightning were down two points in the closing seconds of the game when the littlest man on the floor came up big for the home team.

Shelly Clark kicked the ball out to Cordell Henry with 0:18 remaining in the game with the Lightning trailing 103-105, when the 5-foot-11 guard connected on one of the biggest shots of the Lightning's season. The three-point basket put the Lightning up by a single point as the clock was ticking away.

Idaho's Josh Davis took the ball the length of the court in the closing seconds and attempted to put up the game winning shot when John Jackson rejected the former NBA call-up and was fouled after getting the rebound with 3.3 seconds left. Jackson calmly sank both free throws and Randy Livingston, another former NBA player, came up short on a three-point desperation attempt at the buzzer for the Stampede.

The Lightning walked away with a big 108-105 victory over their Western opponents at the MetroCentre. This was the second of the three-game round-robin tournament that the CBA adopted in the middle of this season for the first round of the playoffs.

The Lightning managed just 1.0-quarter points in the first game, but picked up 5.0 in Thursday night's win. They will need another big win at Sioux Falls on Monday in order to advance to the CBA Finals for the second consecutive year. The two teams with the highest quarter point average in the first round will face off in the 2006 CBA finals.

Cordell Henry led Rockford with 25 points and 5 assists on Thursday night. Ronnie Fields added 22 points off the bench while Roger Powell and Marlon Parmer contributed 15 and 13 points respectively. John Jackson led the team with 9 rebounds and added 10 points for the Lightning who were without the number 5 leading rebounder in the league, Sidney Holmes. Holmes is out for the remainder of the playoffs with a strained knee.

"I am overjoyed that we were able to give our fans not only a win in our last regular season game, but also our playoff game," said Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo. "Guys played hard and we put on a great show, and everybody had a good time. Now lets get Sioux Falls."

Tip-off for Monday night's rematch of last season's CBA finals in Sioux Falls is set for 7:05 P.M. (CST). Lightning fans can follow along with the team on the road by logging on to www.cbahoopsonline.com and checking out the LIVE webcast. The game will also be broadcast by WNTA 1330 radio with coverage starting LIVE at 6:50 P.M.
