 Harrisburg Heat

Heat Win to Conclude Season

March 4, 2016 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Harrisburg Heat News Release

The Harrisburg Heat ended the 2015-16 season with an 8-6 victory in Syracuse. The Heat rallied from a 5-4 deficit with late 3rd quarter goals from Chris Williams and Val Teixeira. The rally continued into the fourth quarter with Marcos Chantel and Tyler Witmer scored goals 20 seconds apart to take an 8-5 lead. Antonio Manfut scored a late 6th attacker goal to cut the lead to 2, but the Heat held on with a strong goalkeeper performance by Tim Mehl, who recorded 18 saves.

Witmer and Chantel ended the game with two goals apiece. The Heat also got goals from Boomer Steigelman and newcomer Joel Musa, both recording their first professional goal.

Former York College men's soccer coach Mark Ludwig, serving as interim head co-coach, gets his first professional coaching win.

The Heat end the season a disappointing 1-18, mostly due to injuries, close losses, and one of the tougher schedules in the MASL. "The guys battled hard the entire game," said Ludwig. "We were determined and stayed focus. Everyone wanted to go out with a win!"
