Harrisburg Heat News Release
The Heat went 1-1 at home against the top two teams in the Eastern Conference this past weekend, and enters the week at 6-8, two games behind second-place Cleveland and 1.5 games in front of last-place Baltimore.
On Saturday, Genoni Martinez scored the game-winning sixth attacker goal at 13:18 of the fourth quarter in a 14-13 win over the Cleveland Force. Harrisburg led throughout the game until Lee Edgerton gave the Force a 13-12 edge with a deuce at 12:53 of the fourth; the Heat immediately went to sixth attacker Martin Hernandez, and 25 seconds later Martinez bagged the decisive goal with a rip from the left wing. Doug Petras made 7 saves in the win. David Bascome led the Heat with three 2pgs for six points.
On Sunday, David Bascome's 2pg at 7:22 of the fourth pulled the Heat to within 8-7, but Glenn Carbonara iced an 11-7 win for the Philadelphia KiXX with an empty-net 3pg with five seconds to play. Harrisburg trailed 8-2 heading into the fourth before Martinez drilled a 3pg at 1:48 to make it 8-5. Bascome's deuce at 7:22 gave the Heat some hope; he also sent a head ball towards the goal with 1:52 to go, catching Stuart Dobson off his line, but the former Heat backup sprinted back, dove, and swatted the ball away to preserve the lead and ultimately the win.
