Heat at Barons Game Preview

Abbotsford Heat News Release

Oklahoma City, OK - The Abbotsford Heat open the second half of the hockey season this afternoon as the club faces the Oklahoma City Barons for their second match-up in less than 24 hours. Last night the Heat beat the Barons 2-1 which vaulted the club over Houston and Oklahoma City for top spot in the Western Conference as the trio of teams have 51 points, but the Heat have more wins and one fewer game played.

A win for the Heat would allow them to build a cushion over the Barons, who will be playing their third game in three days, as they hosted Rockford on Friday night. Also the Houston Aeros are idle, so the Heat will use their game in hand on their West Division rivals who lost in Peoria on Saturday night.

Today is the sixth of eight meetings in the season series for the first-year divisional rivals. The Barons won the first three engagements this season (one in overtime), while the Heat have now strung back-to-back wins up against the Barons at the Cox Convention Center, with a chance to even the season series today.

Following this afternoon's game, Abbotsford closes out its 10-day rendezvous through Texas and Oklahoma with a trip to San Antonio for a Monday afternoon matinee with the Rampage

The Next home action for the Heat is pair of games with the Charlotte Checkers (Carolina Hurricanes), who the Heat have yet to play this season, on January 20th and 21st at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.

This afternoon's start is slated for 2:00 PM PST with the pre-game show starting at 1:45 on Country 107.1 and theAHL.com.
