CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers and 106.5 The END held the inaugural Checkers with the Checkers charity event Friday at Buffalo Wild Wings and raised $5,344 for Hayden's Hope, a local extension of the Children's Organ Transplant Association.

Funds were raised via tournament registrations, a silent auction, raffle tickets and a donation from the Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation. In addition, Checkers defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti and his family, who have been positively affected by child organ donation, donated $500 to the cause.

Checkers fan Paul Chambrovich was crowned King of the checkerboard after defeating defenseman Brett Bellemore in the final match. Paul won an iPod Touch, courtesy of 106.5 The END, and a custom checkerboard for being the last player standing of the 64 who entered.
