PEORIA, Ill. --- Darcy Kuemper made 31 saves and Jed Ortmeyer scored in the third period, but the Houston Aeros couldn't overcome a 2-0 deficit and fell 2-1 to the Peoria Rivermen on Saturday night at Carver Arena.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Aeros, ended a string of six straight road games in which the team earned at least a point, and was just their third regulation loss on the road this season.

Peoria's Derek Nesbitt scored on the power play at the 15:03 mark of the middle period, and Brett Sonne added a goal 1:41 later. Ortmeyer's goal at 13:24 of the third period was his seventh of the season and marked the peak of a 15-4 Houston shot advantage in the final stanza.

Peoria goaltender Ben Bishop stopped 32 shots for the win.

The Aeros host the San Antonio Rampage at 7:35 p.m. Friday at Toyota Center.
