
Hawks Team up for CenturyLink High Speed Teacher of the Year Campaign

BOISE, ID - CenturyLink and YOUR Boise Hawks have teamed up for the CenturyLink High Speed Teacher of the Year Campaign. A few outstanding teachers from around the Treasure Valley were nominated by their students and have been recognized at a Boise Hawks baseball game over the course of the summer.
The nominated teachers were invited out to Memorial Stadium for the presentation of the checks and awards. The Grand Prize winner is an advocate for students, a supporter of parents, and goes above and beyond as a teacher. She recognizes the triumphs and struggles of students and steps in, whether it's by tutoring or advanced placement.
Patricia Peterson of Notus Junior/Senior High School is the 2012 CenturyLink High Speed Teacher of the Year! She was presented with a $1,000 check on the field at last night's game, August 31, 2012.
Also recognized was Kristina Anderson of Hubbard Elementary, Mike Botimer of Spalding Elementary, Stacie Ward of Lowell Elementary, Ashley Hart of East Valley Middle School, and Theresa Giery of Emmett Middle School. They each received a $500 grant.

The Hawks began Northwest League play as an independent club from 1987-89. The team was affiliated with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 1990-2000 and have been with the Chicago Cubs since 2001. The club has won 6 NWL Championships, the most recent banner coming in 2004.
