Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Hawks rallied for the third night in a row, using four unearned runs late in the game to upend the Tri-City Dust Devils, 9-7, before 2,291 fans at Memorial Stadium.
After building a 5-2 lead in the fourth on a Drew Rundle two-run homer, the Dust Devils rallied with the long ball, getting a Scott Robinson solo shot in the sixth off Justin Bristow to make it 5-3, and a three-run bomb by Thomas Field in the seventh to take a 6-5 lead.
The lead would not last for long, as the Tri-City infield imploded. Jhaysson Augustine mishandled a Rundle grounder and after Patrick Rose airmailed a throw to first on a sacrifice bunt by Dwayne Kemp, the Hawks had runners at second and third. After a base running mistake by Kemp with the infield drawn in on a Josh Harrison grounder logged the first out, Harrison stole second, with Burke breaking for home, beating the throw to tie the score (with Harrison taking third on the play). David Macias would follow with a rocket to Rose at third, but his throw home to get Harrison was up the line, allowing the speedster to score, making it 7-6.
Michael Brenly and Josh Vitters each had three hit games for the Hawks, while Rundle knocked in three with his homer and a triple. Bowman and Rose each had three hits for the Dust Devils, who have lost four-straight.
The Hawks go for their first series sweep tomorrow night, with Harol Tolentino meeting Parker Frazier at 7:15 p.m.
