Hawks Stay Close with 7-5 Win

YAKIMA, WA --The Boise Hawks remained one game out of first place in the Eastern Division of the Northwest League with a 7-5 win over the Yakima Bears.

Tony Thomas led off the game for Boise with a single and went to third on an error. Brandon Guyer drove in Thomas with a ground out and the Hawks had a 1-0 lead.

Yakima scored twice in the fourth to take the lead and added one more in the sixth.

The Hawks scored twice in the seventh inning on a bases loaded walk and a hit batter to tie the score. They got three more in the eighth inning on a doubles by Kyler Burke and Drew Rundle and a clutch two-out two-run single by Tony Thomas on a 3-2 pitch. Burke then brought another run home in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly.

Michael Bunton started for the Hawks and gave up two runs on six hits in four innings of work. Jordan Latham got the win with three innings of work and John Muller got his second save of the season with two innings of work.

The Hawks return home for the final nine games of the regular season starting with six against the Spokane Indians. Dustin Sasser goes to the mound for the Hawks against Spokane's Jacob Brigham. Game time at Memorial Stadium in Boise is 7:15 p.m.
