'Hawks Shut out by Giants in Finale

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The JetHawks dropped the rubber match of their series in San Jose, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at Excite Ballpark. Lancaster had just two hits in the game, tying a season-low.

Ryan Rolison (2-1) was the losing pitcher despite giving up just one run in six innings. David Villar hit a home run in the second inning off of Rolison, accounting for the only run of the contest. Three of the five hits allowed by Rolison were infield singles.

Matt Hearn led off Wednesday's game with a double, but the JetHawks did not record another hit until Ramon Marcelino singled in the eighth inning. San Jose's Aaron Phillips (3-4) shut out the JetHawks over six innings, allowing just one hit.

San Jose (23-27) made a number of stellar defensive plays, including one to end the ballgame. With two outs in the ninth inning, Carlos Herrera hit a deep fly ball to right field. San Jose's Randy Norris made a leaping grab at the wall to finish the shutout.

The shutout loss was Lancaster's fourth of the season. The game was also the shortest of the year for the JetHawks. After losing in 2:34 Monday, the team fell in 2:23 Wednesday.

The JetHawks return home Thursday for a four-game series against Stockton. Righty Garrett Schilling is on the mound in the opener against Jordan Mitchell (4-4) for the Ports.
