Hawks Grounded by Canadians, Fall 7-2

Vancouver, British Columbia - Terry McClure's 4th home run of the 2015 season couldn't help the Hawks secure their 4th win in as many days, falling to the Vancouver Canadians by a final of 7-2 in game 1 of the 5 game series.
The game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the third before the Canadians got on the board first with a lead-off double by Connor Panas against Jack Wynkoop (2-3, 4.66) to open up the inning. After a sacrifice bunt by Andrew Guillotte, Ryan Metzler singled to score Panas and make it 1-0.
The Hawks answered in the top of the 4th on an RBI single by Tyler Follis to score Nate Causey and knot the score at one a piece against Vancouver's Francisco Rios.
Vancouver responded in the bottom of the fifth inning as four Canadians singles, coupled with two Hawks errors, led to three runs for the home team, and Vancouver retook the lead 4-1.
Terry McClure put the final tally on the board for the Hawks in the top of the sixth, a solo home run with two outs to cut the Hawks deficit to two runs at 4-2 against the winning pitcher Brandon Hinkle (5-0, 1.05) who came on in relief of Rios in the fifth.
Vancouver then did the remainder of the scoring in the game as Panas, who went 3-3 in the game batting ninth in the Canadians lineup, hit a three-run home run against Cesar Villarroel with two outs and provided the final 7-2 mark.
Angel Lazama quieted the Canadians the rest of the way throwing two scoreless innings for the Hawks in relief, but the Hawks managed only three base-runners after McClure's solo shot and went 1-8 with runners in scoring position on the night.
The Hawks (9-16) will look to even the series against the Canadians (13-11) on Monday, 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
Notes: Kevin Padlo hit his 19th double of the season, tied for the league lead...McClure tallied three of the Hawks 6 hits in the game...Nate Causey hit his second triple of the season and walked three times in the loss. ### The Boise Hawks have been in Idaho since 1987.
