The momentum of Saturday night's walk off victory over Eugene did not carry over to Northern Washington, as Salem-Keizer (32-31) was defeated 7-2 at the hands of the Everett AquaSox (37-26) on Sunday afternoon.

Everett used five doubles between the fourth and fifth innings to sky rocket ahead of the Volcanoes, who could only muster a couple of meaningless runs in the final two frames.

Before the two-bag barrage, Ryan Uhl crushed a no-doubt two-run homer well over the left field fence off of starter Drew Leenhouts (6-4, 2.89) in the second inning. The Northwest League All-Star was not in top form as he lasted just four innings while surrendering four runs on six hits and three walks.

The final two runs off of Leenhouts came in the fourth when the Frogs rallied, using three doubles, with Conner Hale and Braden Bishop picking up the RBIs.

Everett collected two more runs in the fifth inning off of reliever Rayan Hernandez. A pair of doubles including an RBI hit by Luis Liberato as well as a PJ Jones sacrifice fly extended the AquaSox lead to six.

Braden Bishop was hit by a Hernandez pitch to lead off the seventh and stole two bases before Corey Simpson drove him in on an RBI groundout to make it a 7-0 game.

The winning pitcher was reliever Rohn Pierce (4-0, 5.54) who came on in the third inning and navigated through five frames allowing no runs with just four hits and two walks while striking out five.

Salem-Keizer showed fight in the eighth and ninth innings, scoring a run in each frame including John Riley's fourth home run of the campaign on a ninth-inning solo shot. But the deficit was too large to overcome as the Volcanoes fell 7-2.

With Eugene's extra-inning loss to Spokane, Salem-Keizer remains two games back of the Emeralds in the Southern Division while Everett improves upon its league-best record, remaining 1.5 games ahead of Vancouver in the Northern Division.

Tomorrow night, Memorial Stadium will host the second game of this series as Nolan Riggs (3-2, 2.85) heads to the bump for the Volcanoes and Everett sends out Luiz Gohara (3-4, 5.16) to toe the rubber. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with the Volcanoes Live Pregame Show beginning at 6:35.
