Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, Idaho - Taking advantage of nine errors and pounding out a season-high 15 hits, the Boise Hawks defeated the Spokane Indians, 12-6, before 2,480 fans at Memorial Stadium.
Bijan Rademacher went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs in the victory, as the Hawks won their second-straight home series.
Boise grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the first, as a run scored on a throwing error by Indians' second-baseman Nick Vickerson and a second plated on a double play ball. Spokane would bat around in the third for five runs to take the lead, getting RBI singles from Vickerson and Ryan Rua, an RBI double from Preston Beck, and a two-run double from Barrett Serrato.
The lead wouldn't last, as singles by Willson Contreras and Trey Martin started the fourth, with Eric Brooks throwing Rademacher's sacrifice bunt down the right field line to score Contreras to cut the lead to 5-3. With the bases loaded, Gioskar Amaya hit a dribbler in front of the plate, but reliever Richard Alvarez couldn't handle the ball, allowing a run to score. Stephen Bruno would hit a grounder to short, but Gabriel Roa threw the ball away, allowing two to score, giving the Hawks a 6-5 lead.
Boise would pad the lead in the fifth with a two-out RBI single from Xavier Batista and an RBI double from Shawon Dunston Jr. The Hawks would put the game away in the eighth, taking advantage of four Spokane errors to score four runs.
Jose Arias gutted through five innings to log his first win, striking out four. Jeimer Candelario went 3-for-5 with two RBI, with Bruno and Chadd Krist adding two hits.
Serrato and Chris Garia each had two hits in the loss for the Indians.
The Hawks hit the road tomorrow to open a three-game series at Tri-City, with James Pugliese meeting Joshua Slaats at 8:15 p.m. (MT).
