Everett AquaSox News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox fell to the Emeralds, 5-4, in 10 innings to end their six-game winning streak. The Sox dropped to 13-4 on the year, losing just their second game at home, but still remain on top in the West Division of the Northwest League.

Righty Victor Sanchez started for Everett and gave up no runs until the seventh inning when the Em's were able to knock in the first two runs of the game. Sanchez was pulled with an out left in the inning, finishing with two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out three in 6 2/3 innings. The defense behind Sanchez turned a total of three double plays.

The Frogs were held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth when a double by Janelfry Zorilla plated two, tying the game at 2-2. Patrick Kivlehan started the ninth-inning rally with a single to center field and Alfredo Morales followed with a double, allowing both runners to score on the double by Zorilla and send the game to extras.

Eugene wasted no time in extra innings, taking the lead in the top of the 10th inning on a two-run home run by right fielder Corey Adamson for his fourth hit of the day.

Everett responded in the bottom of the 10th with two runs to tie it at 4-4 and prolong the game. Marcus Littlewood and Chris Taylor both checked in with an RBI.

The Emeralds scored the winning run in the top of the 11th on a two-out single to right field by B.J. Guinn. AquaSox reliever Marcos Reyna (0-1, 3.86 ERA) took over on the mound to start the inning and retired the first two batters, but the next batter walked and a pinch-runner stole second to get in position to score on the single by Guinn.

Eugene reliever Chris Nunn (1-0, 0.00 ERA) earned the decision, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings.

The Sox will send out lefty Steve Ewing in the second game of the three-game series in Everett. He will be opposed by Eugene lefty Brandon Alger.
