Boise Hawks News Release
The Boise Hawks (8-9) fell to the Tri-City Dust Devils (9-8) by a final score of 12-5 on Sunday night. The Hawks got a 2-5, 2-RBI performance, including a home run, for newcomer Kyle Datres but it wasn't enough.
Datres got Boise on the board quickly in the first inning. After a walk was handed out to the leadoff man Luke Morgan, Datres got his first professional hit with a rocket off the centerfield fence for a triple making it a 1-0 Boise lead. Datres would score to make it 2-0 when Danny Edgeworth grounded into a double play to make it 2-0.
Datres came back up in the fifth and hit a solo home run to left to make it 3-0. Tri-City came up in the 4th and put up a four spot thanks to an error early in the inning.
The Hawks went back up to the plate in the 6th and got RBI singles from Aubrey McCarty and Cole Anderson to retake the lead at 5-4. Again though, Tri-City battled back to score three runs. Grant Little had an RBI single in the inning and in his debut went 2-4 with 2 RBI for the Dust Devils.
Tri-City tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the 8th to seal the win and get to 9-8 on the year by a final of 12-5. Hawks starting pitcher Nick Bush went four innings of shutout baseball with three strikeouts. Diomar Lopez is the winning pitcher for Tri-City while Shelby Lackey gets the loss for Boise.
The Hawks go to 8-9 on the season and will play the fourth game of the series with Tri-City tomorrow at 8:15 MT.
Boise returns home on Wednesday, July 4th to face the Eugene Emeralds in the first of two fireworks nights on the July 4th-6th homestand. Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
