EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Emeralds snapped a seven game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep over the AquaSox on Sunday. The Emeralds took game one by a 3-1 final, and later took the nightcap 2-1.
In game one, Jake Anchia accounted for the only Everett score with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Anchia also twice threw out Northwest League stolen base leader Fernando Kelli trying to steal. The AquaSox were held to two hits in game one.
At the end of game two, Anchia came off the bench in the seventh-inning and delivered pinch-hit single, but the AquaSox left the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position as the game ended.
Chicago Cubs 2018 first rounder Nico Hoerner made a significant impact in each game. He finished the doubleheader 3-for-4 with a triple, two walks and an RBI.
