Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-The Waterloo Black Hawks have revealed the special sweaters they will wear this weekend to help feed the hungry, as well as a Valentine's date night dinner-and-ticket package for Friday's game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
Black Hawks players will take the ice on February 14th against their archrivals while wearing red, pink, and white-themed tops, presented by Tyson Fresh Meats. A subsidiary of Tyson Foods, Inc., Tyson Fresh Meats is a major employer in the Cedar Valley. After the game, the jerseys will be auctioned, with all profits donated to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
"The Northeast Iowa Food Bank appreciates that Tyson and the Black Hawks have chosen our organization to work with, especially at a time when there is increasing need and growing food insecurity in the community and throughout northeast Iowa," said Barb Prather, Executive Director of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
The organization was founded in Waterloo more than 30 years ago and serves individuals and non-profit groups over a 16-county area. To learn more or to find additional ways to become involved, visit northeastiowafoodbank.org.
The red jerseys up for bid feature the Black Hawks' primary logo bursting from within a heart-shaped figure. A pink band with a pattern of red hearts bordered by red and white stripes wraps around the waist and elbows. White numbers on the sleeves and back of the sweaters are bordered in pink. Each player's name appears in white above the number on the back.
Fans planning to attend the Valentine's Day matchup with a significant other can take advantage of a special ticket offer, which was also announced Monday. For $45, couples will receive two red zone tickets and a $20 gift card for Jameson's Public House, 310 East 4th Street, Waterloo. The gift card may be redeemed before the game, after, or at any time and may be used for any purchase, tips excluded. Dinner-and-ticket package orders must be received by 5 p.m. Thursday.
Good seats are still available for Friday's game against the RoughRiders, which begins at 7:05 in Young Arena. To order tickets or for more information, visit waterlooblackhawks.com or call the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680.
